introducing ziggy

computerWe decided that our house was a bit empty, and we’d been wanting a cat for awhile, so in preparation for a new addition to the family we asked the Back Door Cat Door Man to come and install an electronic cat door for our new kitty. Greg came out on a Saturday morning, cut a hole in the glass in our back door and away we went!

That afternoon we adopted Ziggy Catface W from the SPCA. We were looking for a kitten but there weren’t any so we thought as we had driven out there, we may as well meet some of the cats in the SPCA village. Some looked so sad my heart just about broke, but when we saw a little tabby cat called Ziggy we were sure she was for us. We played with her for awhile and despite being shy at first she warmed to us pretty quickly.

Ziggy is three years old though she is quite a small cat, and as it turned out her owners had gone overseas and couldn’t take her with them. I was glad that she hadn’t been an abused cat as I wasn’t sure how you look after a cat like that and I would hate it if we weren’t able to make her feel safe enough.

Unfortunately since we have adopted her, she has had the flu so has had to stay inside. When we finally unlocked the cat door to let her go outside, I think she had gotten used to it not working and is now not that keen on it..! Hopefully we can change this over the coming months, otherwise we’ll probably either switch it for a non-electronic one or get rid of it entirely.
